Mr. Sun, Mr. Golden Sun

The three middle children and I just completed a unit study on the sun. {in case you can't figure out who is in the middle, it is Maddie Joy, McWilliam, and Mikie}



We read from the book "Exploring Creation with Astronomy" and we did the activities following each chapter. I love this book. It is easy to follow, has tons of fun and practical activities and the kids stay interested throughout our studies. We have the "Zoology" addition as well as the "Flying Creatures" addition. We have loved all of them.



One of the activities was to draw the sun. This is McWilliam's masterpiece. He even remembered to draw "sun flares" liked we learned about. So cute.




I also added a mini lapbook to our activity list for this unit study. It was fun and easy. I found this one HERE.

Then the kids filled in facts about the sun that they remembered from our studies on each flap. I was impressed with how much they retained.




When it is all filled out, it looks like this.




Then you fold each flap in, tucking them under one another. Here is the end result. The kids enjoyed this mini-lapbook a lot.




That is Maddie Joy {the earth} orbiting and rotating around Mikie {the sun}. Too cute.
