Kai
I know you haven't heard much from me this week. I have been a little busy. I wonder why that might be. Things continue to go well. Kai is too cute for words. He is nursing well and is getting bigger everyday. All of the kids have been loving having him around. Even Ash. He kisses him a hundred times a day. He isn't particularly thrilled with me nursing Kai, but he tolerates it.
We are still here in Paradise waiting for clearance to leave. The Rockstar flew home today to get back to work. I am enjoying the rest of my stay with my Grandmother and Mother. I have gotten to see many old friends and we also hit the beach as you can tell from the new header.

The only part I am not looking forward to is the 9 hour drive back home by myself. That should prove to be interesting. (insert INSANE)
As promised, I want to tell you about Kai and his miracle healing. We had been told from day one that Kai's right kidney had a blockage and was not functioning. We did a lot of research and spoke to several doctors before committing to adopting him. Basically as his kidney was forming in utero something went wrong and caused a narrowing of the tube connecting the kidney to the urethra, which eventually completely closed, causing the kidney to not function at all. What we were told is that he may need surgery when he was born if it did not improve and he would need to be watched throughout his life by a Urologist to make sure the blockage did not reoccur. This is one of the reasons his adoption had reduced fees. Because of his kidney he was considered special needs.
His birthmother continued to have weekly ultrasounds. Each week it appeared the kidney was worsening. So they told us to prepare for an early delivery. We got ready expecting him to come at any moment. At 34 weeks they decided to start steroids to prepare his lungs. They opted to give him one more week to mature. At 35 weeks another ultrasound was done. And to everyone's surprise, the kidney had started to function. There was still a significant blockage, but they felt they could hold off on delivering him. Each week they saw his kidney function improve. And each week the doctor was shocked. He literally told Kai's birthmother it was a miracle.
We didn't say much to anyone about it, because frankly, we were believing God would heal him. We continued praying each day that Kai would be born completely healthy. We prayed he would be born full term, with mature lungs, and have no health issues at all. At 41 weeks an induction was scheduled. An ultrasound was preformed and the blockage was still there.
Kai's birthmother labored for many hours. As she began pushing, Kai's little heart bottomed out several times. He was then delivered by emergency c-section. Although his APGARS were low, he was healthy at birth. In the nursery he was monitored overnight. And again, much to everyone's surprise, he was urinating with no issues at all.The following day a kidney scan was preformed to check on the blockage. Accept that there was no blockage at all. When we arrived at the hospital to pick up Kai we were simply told "His kidney healed itself". I laughed to myself thinking, yeah right..... it healed itself. Give credit where credit is due.
God healed Kai.
God healed Kai.
All praise, glory, and honor are His.
Thank you God for healing Kai. We never doubted you would. He is our miracle.
