I was born.
I am now officially in my 30's.
Odd.
Really Odd.
I woke up today to my children singing to me. They had all made cards for me. And Liv made me french toast. I even got to sleep in and my Mom got up with all of the little ones. Kai was a good baby and let me sleep until 9 am. Funny that 9 am is considered sleeping in. I remember the days when I slept until noon.
Yes, I am still in Paradise. No, I have not heard anything about going home. And since this is yet another holiday week, I am going to go ahead and assume that no one will be doing their job until next week. So, I am still here.
The Rockstar went back home yesterday. I will admit, I am sad I am not with him for my birthday. But, my Mom did babysit Saturday and treated us to a crab dinner. The three of us enjoyed it so much. Kai didn't get to try any crabs though. He was a big hit in the restaurant and everyone stopped to see him. Not one weird glance or odd question either. Just loads of "He's so precious!" . Paradise is so different than where we live.
Tomorrow Kai turns 4 weeks old. Talk about time flying by. I almost cannot believe it. He is so cute. He is getting all chubby and round. Let's just say nursing is his favorite thing to do. He nurses a lot. But, that is fine with me. I cannot explain how nursing him has bonded us so quickly. He listens for my voice, calms down as soon as he is in my arms, and prefers me to anyone else. I was so worried that missing his first few days of life, he would take longer to bond. It was instant. And it feels so natural. I often forget he is adopted. It really feels like I just gave birth to him.
Tonight, my Grandmother is treating the whole family to pizza. Maybe it doesn't sound like a big deal, but I haven't had good New York style pizza in a very long time. So, we will be having my favorite pizza in the whole world tonight. Complete with a beer and salad. Birthday heaven. (and yes, I drink beer sometimes and Jesus still loves me)
Happy Birthday Old Girl. Happy Birthday.
