Fantastic 4th

We spent the day at the lake or as the locals like to call it, the beach.
We came home and ordered Chinese for dinner.
Since we missed our town's fireworks display, we decided to pile everyone in the car and drive around until we found some.
We would wait until we saw some going off in the distance, then drive as fast as we could in that direction until we could get a good view. We managed to find several backyard ( illegal) displays. It was ridiculous really. But, we had a great time and a lot of laughs. I can see this being one of those times we will recall again and again. You know. The story we tell to our grandkids.....
"remember the year we drove around for hours trying to find fireworks........"
At one display of fireworks, I asked the kids if they knew how the tradition of fireworks began and why we celebrate the 4th of July. Lulu piped up and said, " Because it is my Burpday. " So, we all sang Happy Birthday to Lulu despite the fact her birthday was in May. She was sure all of these fireworks were for her.
What did you do for your 4th of July??
